    1. It was instituted by Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 11:23; Luke 22:7-22)

    2. It is to be done as a remembrance of Christ's life/death/resurrection and living presence (1 Cor. 11:24)

    3. It is a proclamation of Christ's death - the gospel is stated and meditated upon (1 Cor. 11:26)

    4. It is a time of fellowship with God and with other believers (1 Cor. 10:21)

    5. It is the sign of the new covenant with God through Christ's blood (1 Cor. 11:25)
